Dog Walk-a-thon & Festival - Enjoy a leisurely 1.5 mile stroll with your dog on a path bordering the Long Island Sound, followed by a fun day at the park. Vendors, refreshments, activities for kids, demonstrations, dog contests, music & much, much more! Dogs and cats will be available for adoption. Last year's event was a huge success, with almost 800 people and their dogs attending.

New Rochelle Humane Society & Pet Rescue are teaming up to raise funds for cats and dogs in need. Proceeds will benefit both organizations. Come join in the festivities and help us to continue with our mission to save the lives of these beautiful, helpless creatures.

- SLEEPING IN ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD? Not really a dog person? Don’t feel like walking? Don’t know anyone to sponsor? Enjoy your cat nap but still help us care for rescued dogs and cats. You can make a donation to our cause by simply clicking on “Sponsor a Walker” at the top of this page and when asked for the name of the walker you wish to sponsor, enter “Cat Napper”.
- BECOME A DONOR For donations of $100, receive acknowledgement on our website/newsletters & a complimentary event t-shirt; for donations of $250, receive the same plus a trail marker sign with your name or company name. Click on "download forms" for more information and to download a donor form.
- BECOME A VENDOR We are looking for a variety of vendors to sell their products and/or promote their services; and not just pet-related. Space is limited, so sign-up early. Click on "download forms" for more information and to download a vendor form.
- HELP SPREAD THE WORD Getting the word out is vital to the success of this event. Hang a copy at your office, the gym, your local deli, the pet supply store down the street! Anywhere and everywhere --email it too! The more people that know about the event the better! Click here to download a flyer.
The success of this event depends on the number of walkers who participate and collect pledges. Because it is a pledged walk, it is important to ask family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor you. Walk as a family or form a team and get your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to walk with you. All walkers will receive a bandana for their dog. Walkers who raise $100 or more will receive a Hounds on the Sound T-shirt.
Guidelines:
1 Dress for the weather; this is a rain or shine event
2 Maximum of 2 dogs per registered walker/family
3 All dogs must be leashed, licensed and current on all vaccinations
4 No retractable leashes or leashes over 6 feet long
5 Walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
6 Please pick up after your dog
7 Grumpy dogs are better left at home
Register online to participate. Once registered, you can log in to your account to customize your personal donation page with pictures, stories about you and your pet and send emails to your family and friends with a link to your page asking for their support or asking them to join your team. Later, you can return and “Log In” to manage your offline pledges and view the status of your fundraising efforts. Click on the “Register to Walk” button at the top of the page to get started.
If you prefer to register and sign up sponsors offline, you can download a Registration/Sponsor form by clicking on the "download forms" button above. Please mail or bring the registration and pledge forms and all donations on the day of the event.
